T G Halli

On Saturday Gautham, Murthy and myself decided to go to T G Halli. It is an excellent place where lot of river terns can be seen flying and fishing. Here are some of the pics. I wish i had got more sharper images. This is one area i really need to figure out, especially when taking flight shots. Also i guess i need to improve my post-processing skills.

Hesaraghatta

Last week had been to Hesaraghatta with Gautham and Manoj. We were a little late when we went there (reached at about 7:30 AM) but it wouldn't have mattered as the place was covered with thick fog. After waiting for quite some time, when we watched a Marsh Harrier, some shrikes and several drongos, we were almost desperate for some light and we decided to have idli, vada. I guess that was what triggered the sunlight to come out! We managed to get the kestrels, which we came to photograph and the blue jay

Devbagh

Here is my entry to the blogging world. For months i have been wanting to start a blog. Anyway better late than never. I hope to share some of my experiences with nature and wildlife through this blog.

Recently we had been to Deobagh an island resort of Jungle Lodges, near Karwar. Its a great place to relax, but also home to several white bellied sea eagles. Here are a few of the images from the trip.

Adult White bellied sea eagle.

Spotted owlet

I am not sure which variant of Kingfisher is this one. Any help in identifying this one is appreciated.
(Update) This is black capped kingfisher. Thanks Kiran for the identification.

These Brahminy Kites were very smart hovering around the fishermen who were hauling the day's catch. They would swoop down and catch fishes that were jumping out of the net and feed on them in flight, and go back again once they were done! It was as if they wouldn't want to waste time going back to the shore and finish and then come back.
